WATCH: 18-year-old Florida woman leads trooper on wrong-way pursuit

SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. (WFLA) – An 18-year-old spent the night in jail and is facing a felony charge after leading a state trooper on a chase that had them driving in the wrong direction down a busy road.

The trooper was responding to another call at around 6:20 p.m. on Friday when Emorie Hamilton, of Sarasota, flew by in a Kia.

Hamilton’s arrest report said she was speeding, weaving through traffic recklessly, and using the shoulder to pass other drivers on Sun City Center Boulevard.

The trooper, with lights and sirens on, caught up to the teen, but she failed to stop and continued fleeing at high speeds.
