Hidalgo County doctor sentenced in $240 million fraud case released from prison

The Hidalgo County doctor who was sentenced in a $240 million healthcare fraud and international money laundering scheme was released from federal prison on Friday, June 19, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Jorge Zamora-Quezada, 69, was sentenced to 10 years, minus seven years for time served, in May 2025. A notice from the Federal Bureau of Prisons listed his release date as Sept. 2, 2026.
