Iconic Denver arcade bar closes original location after 15 years

DENVER (KDVR) — A well-known Denver arcade bar that was first of its kind in Colorado when it opened 15 years ago has closed its original location, but new life for the brand is on the horizon.

The 1up Arcade Bar announced the Lower Downtown location on Blake Street near 20th Street officially closed its doors on Monday. It had been open since 2011, and the bar has since expanded to several locations throughout the Denver metro area, including a new one opening this fall.

“What started as a passion project built around classic arcade games, pinball machines, craft beer, and a love for gaming grew into something far larger than we ever imagined,” the owners said in a Facebook post. “Over the years, our Blake Street location became more than just a bar. It became a community. It was a place where friendships were formed, birthdays were celebrated, first dates turned into marriages, leagues were built, tournaments were won, and memories were created one game at a time.”…
