New installation in Waikīkī will help keep streets clean

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Waikīkī is getting an upgrade — 100 new enclosed, weather-resistant trash bins have been installed to reduce rummaging and improve the district’s appearance.

This addition is “building on the success of similar bins installed at Kūhiō Beach Park in 2024,” officials said.

The initiative is a partnership between the Waikīkī Business Improvement District, also known as WBID; the Hawaiian branch of travel agency Japan Travel Bureau Corp, JTP Hawaiʻi; and the City and County of Honolulu.
