PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Scottish soccer fans, known collectively as the Tartan Army, have left their mark on Rhode Island, and now, the local community is paying it forward.
The Providence Tartan Army raised more than $10,000 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital and handed over the check last week. The group also donated $6,500 to the Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band and $5,000 to local youth soccer charity, Project Goal.
The fans’ generosity was meant as a “thank you” to their host community for the World Cup.
