St. Bernards Healthcare has launched a targeted cancer therapy program and treated its first patient with LUTATHERA, becoming the only health system in Northeast Arkansas to offer the specialized treatment.
LUTATHERA is designed for patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs), a rare form of cancer that develops in the stomach, intestines or pancreas. The disease can be challenging to treat with conventional therapies.
The treatment is available to patients aged 12 and older whose tumors contain somatostatin receptors (SSTRs), specific proteins that can be targeted by the therapy. Before treatment begins, patients undergo specialized imaging to confirm the presence of these receptors…
