On Thursday, June 18 the challengers to Marana’s incumbent mayor and council members had their say at a forum held at the Highlands at Dove Mountain.
Vying for the mayoral seat is Greg Johnsen, who has more than 30 years in finance. He is retired but spent his career as an accountant and a controller for more than a few large companies. As controller, he oversaw a company’s day-to-day financial operations and acted as the “chief accountant,” managing the accounting staff, producing financial reports and ensuring the company complies with financial regulations and budget. Basically, he had his hand in nearly all departments of a company.
