Cleveland says mystery manufacturer could bring 700 jobs to I-X Center

CLEVELAND, Ohio — City officials say a new manufacturer is eyeing the I-X Center and could bring 700 jobs and $72 million in annual payroll, if Cleveland can beat out one other city competing for the company.

Jennifer Scheel, executive attraction officer for the city of Cleveland, told City Council she’s under a non-disclosure agreement and can’t reveal the company’s name. But if all goes well, people could start working in the city-owned International Exposition Center by summer 2027.

Scheel said the advanced manufacturer is one of several companies that have expressed interest in what was once called the Cleveland Tank Plant, a 2.2 million square-foot facility that was used to make bomber planes and tanks before it became the home of auto, boat and RV shows…
