Michigan uses $3.75M in opioid settlement funds to prevent drug use in kids

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Two organizations in Mid-Michigan have received funding from the state to help prevent substance use among kids.

Family Service & Children’s Aid in Jackson County received a $370,822 grant, while Child and Family Charities in Ingham County received a $232,925 grant, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced Wednesday.

The funding comes from an opioid settlement. Ten other groups across the state also received funding, which totals $3.75 million, for programs ranging from extracurricular activities to teaching school-age children about decision-making and coping skills.
