4 sentenced in Middle Tennessee opioid distribution, healthcare fraud conspiracy

CLAY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Clay County pharmacy owner and three others have been sentenced for their roles in a years-long conspiracy to unlawfully dispense controlled substances and defraud both federal and state healthcare programs.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, 65-year-old Thomas K. Weir of Celina was sentenced to two years in federal prison. He has also been ordered to pay over $1.4 million in restitution to Medicare and TennCare, as well as forfeit the pharmacy building and warehouse used in his scheme.

He previously pleaded guilty to the charges in September 2025
