No injuries reported after Wednesday morning vehicle fire on I-85 in Shorter

SHORTER, Ala. (WSFA) – No injuries were reported after a commercial vehicle caught on fire Wednesday morning on Interstate 85 in Shorter, according to authorities.

The Shorter Volunteer Fire Department said they were called to the scene on the southbound side of the interstate around 6:30 a.m.

Mutual aid was requested from the Waugh-Mt. Meigs Fire Department and the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, and the fire was brought under control.

As of 9 a.m., drivers are still advised to seek an alternate route as traffic remains congested in the area near mile marker 21…
