Severe Flooding Impacts Avoyelles Parish As Storm Waters Rise And Recede.

(KTDY) – Parts of Central Louisiana are still recovering from a record flood after Tropical Storm Arthur dropped close to 30 inches of rain in some parts of the state.

Hundreds of homes were flooded, and high-water rescues were underway in places like Avoyelles Parish, but sadly, that water is now moving south.

Parts of St. Landry Parish are now flooding as water begins to drain south, and with it, some people are on the move, seeking higher ground. As we previously reported, a nursing home in Palmetto was evacuated a few days ago after officials feared the facility’s property could flood as water moved through the area…
