Harlem School District unveils solar project expected to power 1,000 homes, award scholarships to students

MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Local leaders gathered Wednesday morning to mark the launch of a new community solar project tied to the Harlem School District, highlighting both renewable energy production and long-term investment in students.

The Harlem Consolidated School District Community Solar Garden, developed by New Energy Equity, is expected to generate enough electricity to power roughly 1,000 Illinois homes annually, according to project officials.
