Bingham Elementary School teardown begins for new school

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Demolition has begun on the old Bingham Elementary School, as crews were seen tearing the building down on Wednesday morning.

The demolition will make way for the construction of a new Bingham Elementary School, which begins in the summer of 2026.

New additions at SPS schools address students and teachers needs

In 2023, voters approved Proposition S, which issued $220 million in bonds. SPS says that, because of efficient management of construction costs related to Prop S, the Board of Education decided to expedite construction of a new school for Bingham Elementary and renovations at Bissett Elementary School.

During its meeting on Tuesday, June 23, the Board of Education approved a construction bid for Bingham by Nabholz Construction.
