HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Ocean Safety Department (OS) responded to two distressed divers that were reported one-half mile offshore of Wailupe Beach Park in Aina Haina on Tuesday afternoon.
It was reported that the divers were having trouble returning to their vessel after it drifted an estimated 1,000 yards away from their location.
Two off-duty OS lifeguards were paddling in the area and spotted the divers and noticed that they needed help. The lifeguards contacted emergency responders using an Apple Watch and remained with the divers until rescue personnel arrived on the scene…
