Online discussions and community concerns have brought renewed attention to the future of a historic hospital property in Fort Oglethorpe that has remained vacant for nearly five years.
The former Hutcheson Medical Center sits within the historic Barnhardt Circle area, a location with deep ties to Fort Oglethorpe’s history. The area was once home to military training camps, soldier housing, and medical facilities. In 1904, the Post Hospital was constructed to serve military personnel and the surrounding community, remaining active through both World War I and World War II.
