According to investigators, officers were first dispatched to the Popeye’s restaurant after receiving reports of customers fighting.
When officers arrived, they found Xavion Broussard and Anayla Williams involved in a verbal altercation. Police said the restaurant manager requested that everyone involved leave the property, and both parties went their separate ways without any arrests being made at that time.
Shooting Reported Hours Later
Around 5:30 p.m., Abbeville Police were called to the 600 block of Hawthorne Street after reports of gunfire.
During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance and video evidence that allegedly showed Broussard’s vehicle being followed from the earlier Popeye’s incident to Hawthorne Street, where police say his grandmother lives.
