Sheriff, Suspect End Up With Scrapes After Foot Chase

Stewart County, Tenn.–Both Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray and the suspect ended up with scrapes after a foot chase Wednesday. The suspect was charged with numerous offenses, including aggravated assault of a first responder, evading and resisting arrest, drug charges, no license, driving on a revoked license and more.

The Sheriff spotted a motorcycle on Bumpus Mills Road with no tags, and the driver was not wearing a helmet. When he attempted to stop the motorcycle it refused to pull over. The motorcycle then turned onto a dirt road, and Sheriff Gray continued to pursue it.

When the road ended the driver continued into a small field towards a wooded area. Sheriff Gray exited his vehicle and continued to follow the suspect on foot. The driver was unable to continue driving through the thick weeds and jumped off the motorcycle fleeing on foot. After a short chase, the Sheriff was able to catch the suspect,and a struggle ensued…
