Departing Michigan State AD J Batt gets sizable raise in move to Kentucky

J Batt is getting quite a raise in moving from Michigan State’s athletic director job to Kentucky’s. Batt on June 15 was announced as the new leader of Kentucky’s athletic department, exiting East Lansing just a year after his arrival.

Batt is reportedly getting a six-year contract worth $17.85 million at Kentucky. At MSU, he was on a six-year deal worth a total of $12.6 million. After earning $1.85 million this past year, Batt is set to make $2.6 million in total compensation his first year in Lexington, Kentucky.

“We couldn’t be more excited to join the University of Kentucky and the Big Blue Nation,” Batt said in Kentucky’s press release announcing his hiring. “The championship standard has been established at Kentucky and we are committed to upholding that standard of excellence.
