MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The City of Mobile is inviting the public to a meeting where officials will update residents on the progress of the Africatown Welcome Center.

According to a city news release, the meeting is set for Thursday, July 16, at 7 p.m. at the Robert Hope Community Center, 850 Edwards Street in Mobile.
During the meeting, officials will give updates on the welcome center, which the city says is “designed to serve as a gateway to one of America’s most significant cultural and historical destinations,” and residents will be able to find out how they can actively participate in “preserving and sharing Africatown’s story for generations to come.”…
