The Northside of Lafayette is preparing for a new chapter in public education after city officials, educators, parents, students and community members gathered Wednesday, June 24, for the groundbreaking of the new Paul Breaux K-8 School.
The project is expected to reshape educational opportunities and community infrastructure in North Lafayette’s District 4, consolidating students from J.W. Faulk Elementary, Dr. Raphael A. Baranco Elementary and Paul Breaux Middle School into one modern campus designed to serve kindergarten through eighth grade, including pre-K.
The Lafayette Parish School Board unanimously approved the project last September in a 9-0 vote. The new school will be built on the J.W. Faulk Elementary property, with a projected budget of $50 million and an estimated completion timeline of about 18 months…
