Rochelle officer honored for life-saving response to train crash in 2025

ROCHELLE, Ill. (WIFR) – Officer Edgar Silva, of the Rochelle Police Department, was honored for his courageous and life-saving actions at the scene of a pedestrian involved train crash on July 8, 2025.

Police were called out after 10 p.m. to the railroad tracks for a victim suffering from a severe injury.

Officer Silva acted quickly upon arrival, applying a tourniquet to control the bleeding.
