Ozarks summer 2026: Cooler temps, normal rainfall expected

Summer is fresh in the air all around the Ozarks! We officially crossed into summer on June 21, the longest day of the year and the first day of astronomical summer.

Summer in the Ozarks is usually hot, humid, and relatively dry. However, some years are hotter than others, and some are wetter than others. So what is summer 2026 shaping up to be?

For most of spring and now through most of June, the Ozarks have been locked in a constantly changing pattern with multiple storms each week. Severe weather has been limited, but rainy weather has been common. In fact, we started March with severe drought for much of the area. By late June, most of the drought in Missouri had been eradicated, with exceptional drought shrinking in Northern Arkansas.

The troughing pattern over the Great Lakes and parts of the Midwest will likely return more than once this summer. This will lead to periodic cooler-than-normal weather and perhaps more rain than normal, if not near normal…
