Chattanooga cyclists push back as TDOT plans Main Street repaving, removal of bike lane

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Plans to repave part of downtown Chattanooga and remove an existing bike lane on Main Street are drawing pushback from some cyclists who say the change could make the area less safe to navigate.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s proposal focuses on Main Street between Broad Street and Dodds Avenue.

TDOT plans to repave and re-stripe that stretch, replacing the current bike lane with wider travel lanes.
