‘Big Boy’ to make first trip through Berks County next week

MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. – Next week, the world’s largest operating steam train locomotive will make its first of two trips through Berks County.

The Union Pacific “Big Boy” is expected to journey through Berks County between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, with a stop planned at the train station in Muhlenberg Township. It will then continue to Pottstown and Philadelphia.

The train will go through Berks again on the morning of Tuesday, July 7, when it rolls through Reading, Wyomissing and the Sinking Spring area, as it moves to its stop in Lebanon County…
