MEMPHIS, Tenn. — About 150 college-bound students and their families gathered Wednesday evening at Southbrook Mall in Whitehaven for the third annual HBCU Trunk Party.
Hosted by the Dodson Foundation, the event connected students with representatives from several historically Black colleges and universities, giving them the opportunity to learn about admissions, scholarships, financial aid and other resources available as they prepare for college.
Youth help launch restoration of Frayser community resource center
In addition to meeting with college representatives, students received basic necessities to help them begin their college journey.
“Just giving them a start with just some basic necessities, letting them know that we are also thinking about them, supporting them, because this is all about community,” said Syreeta Dodson with the Dodson Foundation. “It’s important for us and the Dodson Foundation that we continue the legacy of giving back.”…
