Ridgeland man sentenced to prison for hit-and-run that killed pedestrian in Beaufort County

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — A Ridgeland man who struck and killed a pedestrian while leaving a party at a Shell Point home has been sentenced to prison, according to the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Clinton Lee Anthony Brown, 41, was convicted by a Beaufort County General Sessions Court jury of hit and run involving death after striking and killing Redeidre Holmes. He was sentenced to eight years in prison, three years’ probation, and a $10,000 fine. The jury could not reach a verdict on a separate charge of DUI resulting in death.

Investigators say the crash happened Aug. 22, 2019, on Cleveland Drive in Shell Point.
