The pastoral position at Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge didn’t initially interest the Rev. Merrick Nunn.
A Louisiana native, Nunn was content serving his church in Kentucky, even as several trusted mentors encouraged him to consider applying at Istrouma, one of the state’s respected congregations, which dates back to its beginnings in North Baton Rouge in 1920.
“I wasn’t looking for a change in churches, so I didn’t (apply),” he said.
All that changed when a friend then referred Nunn to the Istrouma pastoral search committee…
