Houston feeder road shut by fatal sedan, box truck crash

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (CW39) – A fatal crash involving a passenger vehicle and a box truck shut down the eastbound feeder road of North Sam Houston Parkway near Veterans Memorial Friday evening, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Authorities said the collision occurred near North Sam Houston Parkway West and Sharmon Road, in northwest Harris County. That’s where emergency crews responded to a heavily damaged sedan that became partially lodged underneath a box truck.

According to Sheriff Gonzalez, Precinct 4 deputies responded to the crash shortly before 6 p.m. Preliminary information from the sheriff is that the driver of the sedan may have allegedy been traveling at a high rate of speed when the vehicle changed lanes and went partially underneath the rear of a box truck. Emergency crews arrived to find the driver trapped inside the severely damaged vehicle.

Fire department personnel worked alongside law enforcement officers to extricate the driver from the wreckage. Authorities confirmed the crash was fatal. No additional information about the victim has been released. Officials have not said whether anyone in the box truck was injured.
