VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Beach Neptune Festival unveiled its commemorative poster and the artist behind the work for the 52nd Annual Boardwalk Weekend. Virginia Beach native Allison Swan was given the honor of being selected as this year’s artist.
She revealed her painting of a stunning sunrise over the ocean during an event Thursday night at the Atlantic Surf Park. If you look closely, you’ll see hints of King Neptune in the painting.
Swan’s journey to this point is an amazing story of passion and perseverance.
She attended Virginia Tech where she focused on design and merchandising, but she came home to run her mother’s small gallery after a mystery illness made it difficult for her to retain new information…
