Nearly 5,000 Arkansas Teachers Earn Merit Pay

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Department of Education announced today that nearly 5,000 teachers will receive up to $10,000 in merit pay. The awards will be funded through the LEARNS Merit Teacher Incentive Fund.

Sanders says the number is up from nearly 3,000 teachers receiving the bonus last year.

Educators who are licensed, including classroom teachers, library media specialists, and school counselors can qualify for the bonuses under the LEARNS Act. They are judged on exceptional student growth, mentoring aspiring teachers, or serving in critical shortage areas…
