HONOLULU – The H-1 Freeway Westbound lanes near the Aala Street overpass are back open, after an excavator struck the overpass.
The Honolulu Police Department is on scene investigating. The incident was reported at 10:46 a.m. Thursday, June 26. HPD reports the excavator hit the Aala Street overpass, causing debris to fall, blocking the far left and far right westbound lanes. The road reopened at around 11:30 a.m.
