Trussville Police warn of scam where callers impersonate officials demanding money

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – Police in Trussville are warning residents of a scam making the rounds in the area.

The Trussville Police Department said in a post on social media that they have received reports of people getting calls and texting claiming to be TPD officials requiring payment for the release of a family member.

“The scammers tell victims that a loved one has been arrested and is in jail, then demand money to have them released,” police said. “This is a scam.”…
