BALTIMORE, Md. — Maryland is expanding a Medicaid program that combines housing stability with healthcare services, a move state officials say will help more than 1,000 additional people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The expansion of the Assistance in Community Integration Services program, known as ACIS, will add five new counties to the initiative and more than double its current annual capacity, the Maryland Department of Health announced this week.
First launched as a pilot program in 2017, ACIS targets Medicaid participants who face housing insecurity alongside at least two chronic health conditions and frequent emergency room visits.
