San Antonio’s River North nightlife strip is getting a new late night neighbor, as Volcano Mexican Food & Tacos moves into the former Artisan Distillery suite on North Alamo Street. The taqueria is set to plug right into a stretch already lined with breweries and bars that stay busy on weekends.
According to MySA, Volcano appears to be taking over the shuttered Artisan Distillery space next to Roadmap Brewing. MySA also points to a video on the restaurant’s Facebook page that showed construction underway as early as Nov. 6, 2025. The business profile teases tacos “crafted with love, using premium ingredients and homemade salsas,” although the page has been quiet since last November.
A project listing on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation website identifies “Volcano Restaurant” at 723 N. Alamo St. The filing shows a privately funded tenant improvement renovation pegged at $80,000, with work scheduled from July 6 through Dec. 31, 2026.
