GRANT COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A former Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputy will not spend any time behind bars after intentionally killing a baby rabbit while on duty.

Alejandro Gomez pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of extreme animal cruelty earlier this week. The plea deal stated that Gomez pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor and had to give up his New Mexico Law Enforcement certification in exchange for no jail time served.
