People visit Conesus Lake even with Harmful algal bloom advisory

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Despite a harmful algal bloom advisory for parts of Conesus Lake, people haven’t stopped coming out and dipping in. However, some people at Vitale Park say they’re avoiding contact with the lake altogether.

Chuck Albanese, who lives close to Vitale Park, says he and his wife visit often during the summer, and, on their walks, they can spot some algae.

“We don’t go in, but we’re a little bit surprised that so many people are on the water today,” he said. “It kind of just looks like seaweed and different colors.”…
