Mass. weather: Showers possible Sunday before extreme heat wave hits state

Massachusetts will finish out the weekend with a pleasant Sunday before extreme heat envelops the state next week.

Sunday will bring moderate conditions for most of the day, with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s to low 80s. Boston will reach a high of 75 degrees, Worcester will hit 82 degrees and Springfield will get up to 86 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The Berkshires will touch 80 degrees, while Cape Cod & the Islands are expected to be a bit cooler, settling in the low 70s.

There is a chance of light precipitation in the afternoon, with a 20% to 30% chance of showers after 2 p.m. Any rain is expected to clear by 11 p.m. in Boston and by 8 p.m. across the rest of the state…
