FOREST, Va. (WSET) — As the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest is asking the public to help preserve one of America’s historic landmarks.
The nonprofit historic site has launched a fundraising campaign to support its annual fund, aiming to raise an additional $250,000 by July 31.
The campaign comes as the country marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Jefferson, the document’s principal author, designed Poplar Forest as his private retreat in Bedford County.
Today, visitors can tour the restored villa and grounds, offering a firsthand look at Jefferson’s life while exploring the nation’s founding ideals and history…
