‘We want them to be remembered’; Uncle of girls involved in Lake SGF Dam incident reflects on the response, rescue and search

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Nearly two weeks after four girls went over the Lake Springfield Dam on June 14, a relative of the family spoke to Ozarks First about the lives of those girls and the response from local search and rescue crews.

“You see this stuff on the internet and you think, ‘This would never happen to our family or yourself or anything like that,’ and the news hit pretty hard,” Webber said. “It’s hard to sleep and not think about them, and it’s just a very real, bad situation.”
