National Weather Service confirms pair of tornadoes from Friday’s storms

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Springfield has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado in Douglas County and an EF-0 tornado in Webster County touched down during severe storms on Friday, June 26.

In Douglas County, a NWS survey measured an EF-1 tornado southwest of Mt. Zion that reached an estimated maximum wind speed of 95 mph. The tornado was on the ground for approximately two minutes, from 6:03-6:05 p.m., was 75 yards wide and traveled nearly half a mile.

The tornado caused uprooted trees and other tree damage, but no injuries were reported.

In Webster County, an EF-0 tornado was observed by the NWS four miles north of Seymour, reaching an estimated maximum wind speed of 80 mph. The tornado was on the ground for about six minutes, was 75 yards wide and traveled 1.5 miles on the ground, according to NWS…
