Merrimack College Wins Approval to Offer 3-Year ‘Applied Bachelor’s’ Degrees

Merrimack College plans to offer three-year “applied bachelor’s degrees” after becoming among the first approved to do so by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education in an affordability move.

The state on Friday approved pilot programs from Merrimack College and Suffolk University starting in the fall 2027 semester. Merrimack will pilot 96-credit versions of its bachelor’s degrees in business administration, communications, criminal justice and psychology, and Suffolk will pilot a 94-credit applied bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration and innovation.
