Virginia’s new ‘Clean Slate law’ to take effect July 1, sealing certain convictions

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Beginning this week, a new law will allow Virginians to seal certain criminal convictions, depending on the type of offense and amount of time that has passed.

Known as the “Clean Slate Law,” the legislation will allow certain misdemeanors and low-level felonies to be concealed from the public, including when someone is applying for a job or housing.
