MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — The abrupt closure of Ferrara’s Imported Foods has left Northeast Ohio food lovers mourning the loss of one of the region’s longest-running Italian markets.
Ferrara’s, at 5750 Mayfield Road, quietly closed last week after 67 years in business. The market, known for its sub sandwiches, Sicilian-style pizza, fresh-baked bread and imported Italian groceries, shut its doors without a public announcement or going-out-of-business sale. The 6,500-square-foot building has since been listed for sale or lease.
