Rockford City Council delays vote on proposed TIF district

ROCKFORD — Aldermen on Monday delayed a decision over whether to create a new tax increment finance district to spur industrial development on the south end of the city near the county line.

The measure was pushed back under the City Council’s two-aldermen rule, which allows for certain votes to be postponed on their first appearance with a motion by one alderman and a second by another. The motion to delay was made by Alderwoman Gina Meeks and seconded by Alderman Tamir Bell.
