Tucson Teen Earns National Best Actress Honor

Tucson is celebrating one of its brightest young performers after recent Salpointe Catholic High School graduate Samia Posadas earned the title of Best Performance by an Actress at the 2026 Jimmy Awards, the nation’s premier competition for high school musical theater.

Samia first qualified for the national stage by winning Best Actress at Southern Arizona’s Monte Awards, presented by Arts Express Theatre and Broadway in Tucson. Her regional victory earned her a trip to New York City, where she joined 115 other outstanding student performers from across the country for an immersive week of training with Broadway professionals at The Juilliard School.

The experience included intensive coaching in acting, singing, choreography, and stage performance before the students took the stage at the Minskoff Theatre for the nationally recognized awards ceremony. After advancing through multiple rounds of competition, Samia was selected as one of just eight finalists. Her performance ultimately earned her the top honor, along with a $25,000 scholarship to support her future education and artistic goals…
