After six years, DNA leads police to suspect in Fayetteville homicide

DNA collected from a couch cushion in the Murchison Road home of a woman slain in 2020 has led investigators to the arrest of a 31-year-old former Fayetteville man.

Justice Robert Sampson, 31, of Americus, Georgia, was arrested there June 21 on a Cumberland County warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the death of Nena Renae Mollison, according to Georgia records.

Mollison, 49, was found dead inside her home at 3857-2 Murchison Road on March 2, 2020. Officers responding to the residence for a welfare check found her body on the living room floor, nude from the waist down, according to an affidavit. She had been dead for some time, the record notes…
