Residents of Pennsylvania face a prolonged and dangerous heat wave beginning today, with heat index values expected to reach between 100 and 110 degrees across much of the region through at least Friday.
The National Weather Service in State College has issued excessive heat warnings and heat advisories covering a broad swath of Pennsylvania. Tuesday’s high temperature is supposed to be around 94 in the Harrisburg region.
The most intense heat is expected Wednesday and Thursday. Peak heat index values will approach or exceed 110 degrees those two afternoons, prompting officials to warn of dangerous conditions for vulnerable populations.
