It’s been a banner year for dumpling lovers in Tampa, and it’s only getting better from here. Signage is now up for Ugly Duckling, a fast-casual Chinese dumpling spot opening at 19601 Bruce B Downs Blvd.
Ugly Duckling is a growing chain that focuses on “sharing the authentic flavors of traditional Chinese cuisine” through a diverse menu of Chinese classics. There is an emphasis, of course, on dumplings, with their soup dumplings taking a starring role.
Dumplings come by the half dozen alongside other starters such as wontons, rangoon, and pork buns. For entrees, guests can select from a range of proteins and bases, including stir-fried noodles, rice dishes, and specialties like orange chicken and garlic string beans.
Ugly Dumpling got its start as a single small restaurant dedicated to showcasing dumplings made with high-quality ingredients, and it has since grown to more than 21 locations throughout the Northeast. The New Tampa location is part of its growing southward expansion…
