Three Central Texas lakes remain full after recent, heavy rains

Summer is here, and that means there’s no better time than now to start prepping for your next lake or river day in Central Texas. Heavy recent rainfall has left several Austin-area waterways ready for swimmers and now one small town now is safe from catastrophic water outages.

The City of Pflugerville announced on June 17 that Lake Pflugerville is officially full, in part thanks to the community’s continued water conservation efforts. The north Austin suburb had been under Stage 3 water restrictions since March after five breaks were found in the city’s existing raw waterline.

In early March, engineers estimated that Pflugerville could run out of water by mid-April, which prompted city leaders to take emergency action to repair and strengthen the city’s water supply, which mainly comes from Lake Pflugerville. The city said it’s also moving forward with purchasing replacement filtration equipment that will increase the facility’s operational capacity and help the town meet normal summer water demands…
